Uptime
Uptime is the share of scheduled time a robot cell is available and producing. High uptime, not peak speed, usually decides real-world output and ROI.
Uptime (availability) is the percentage of scheduled production time during which a robot cell is actually running and producing good parts, rather than stopped for faults, changeovers, or maintenance. It is a core component of overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Uptime, combined with cycle time, sets real throughput: a slightly slower but highly reliable cell often out-produces a fast but fault-prone one. Spare-parts availability, preventive maintenance, and robust part presentation are the main levers.
When choosing a used robot, favour well-supported models with available spares — long-term uptime depends more on serviceability than on the original purchase price.
