A teach pendant is the handheld terminal — touchscreen or keypad with a screen — used to move (jog) the robot manually, teach positions, write or edit programs, and run the cell. It includes an enabling switch and emergency stop as required by safety standards.
Each brand and controller generation has its own pendant and programming language (e.g. KUKA KRL, FANUC TP/Karel, ABB RAPID). The pendant is essential for setup and recovery, so a missing or incompatible pendant raises real cost.
