Palletising
Palletising is the robotic stacking of cases, bags, or trays onto pallets in a set pattern. It is a high-payload, medium-reach end-of-line automation workhorse.
Palletising is the application of stacking products — cases, sacks, trays, or bundles — onto pallets in a defined pattern at the end of a production or packing line. Depalletising is the reverse. Both are among the most common high-payload robot jobs.
Palletising favours higher-payload, medium-reach robots (or dedicated palletising arms with four axes) plus a vacuum or clamp end effector and pattern-generation software. Cobots handle lighter, lower-rate palletising without fencing.
When sizing a used robot for palletising, account for the heaviest case plus the tool, the top pallet height (reach and vertical envelope), and the required rate. The Robot Portal's payload and reach filters help shortlist suitable arms.
