Offline Programming (OLP)
Offline programming creates and simulates robot paths in software from CAD, away from the line, cutting downtime versus teaching on the physical robot.
Offline programming (OLP) generates robot programs in a 3D simulation environment using CAD models of the part and cell, then downloads them to the controller. The robot keeps producing while new programs are written and validated on a PC.
OLP slashes the downtime of teaching directly on the machine and is essential for complex paths (welding seams, deburring, painting) and high part variety. It depends on accurate cell calibration and good absolute accuracy to make the virtual path match reality.
If your operation runs many part variants or intricate paths, confirm a used robot supports the OLP toolchain and absolute accuracy calibration you intend to use.
