Delta Robot
A delta robot is a high-speed parallel robot with three arms on a fixed base, built for ultra-fast pick-and-place of light parts in packaging lines.
A delta robot is a parallel-kinematic robot: three or four lightweight arms connect a fixed overhead base to a small moving platform. Because the motors stay on the base and the moving mass is tiny, delta robots achieve extremely high accelerations.
Delta robots excel at high-speed pick-and-place of small, light products — sorting, packing, and assembly on food, pharma, and electronics lines, often paired with vision systems. Payloads are low (typically under a few kilograms) but rates can exceed 100 picks per minute.
On the secondary market, delta robots appear most in food and packaging applications. Verify the moving platform, ball joints, and drive belts when assessing a used delta unit.
