Accuracy

Pose accuracy is how closely a robot reaches a commanded position in absolute coordinates. It matters most for offline-programmed and CAD-driven paths.

Pose accuracy is the difference between a commanded position (in the robot's coordinate frame) and the position the robot actually reaches. Unlike repeatability, which measures consistency, accuracy measures correctness against an absolute target.

Accuracy is decisive for offline programming, where paths are generated from CAD and downloaded to the robot without manual teaching. Without absolute accuracy calibration, the real arm deviates from the simulated one and parts can be missed.

Many older industrial robots ship with good repeatability but uncalibrated absolute accuracy. If your workflow is CAD-driven, confirm whether a used robot supports absolute accuracy calibration before committing.
